In 1876 Amedeo Obici, an Italian immigrant came to America and opened his own fruit stand and invested in a peanut roaster. Two years later, the firm was incorporated as Planters Nut and Chocolate Company. Since the introduction of their mascot, Mr. Peanut in 1916, Mr. Peanut has become one of the nation's best-known advertising characters. Limited edition sign!
